PVRI 2026 Dublin Report
“What a remarkable event it was! In PVRI’s 20th year, this was our largest meeting ever, and as a community, we have so much to be proud of: world-class science, a determination to support and advance all our members, and a real spirit of belonging.”
Karen Osborn, PVRI CEO
PVRI 2026 Dublin was more than an annual Congress. It marked 20 years of global collaboration in PH — and brought together our largest and most internationally diverse community to date. Across five days of science, discussion, mentorship, and celebration, the Congress reflected the strength, maturity, and ambition of the global PH field.
PVRI 2026 Dublin Event Report
We welcomed 582 delegates from 37 countries to Dublin— including strong representation from low- and middle-income regions. But the numbers only tell part of the story. Attendees rated the Congress overwhelmingly positively, with exceptional feedback on scientific content, inclusivity, and networking opportunities.
“The conference and location were terrific. Everyone felt welcomed and there were many opportunities to connect and share questions and interests. The app worked very well and the reminder emails were very helpful in keeping the organisation! Best PVRI meeting that I have attended.”

Inside the Congress
Over five days, PVRI 2026 Dublin brought together the global PH community for rigorous science, meaningful debate, mentorship, and celebration. Here are some of the highlights that defined this landmark Congress.
Satellite meetings
PVRI 2026 opened and closed with satellite meetings that brought together our IDDI Workstreams, alongside specialty and regional Task Forces for focused, working discussions.
- Innovative Drug Development Initiative (IDDI)
- Latin America Task Force
- Imaging Task Force
- Paediatric & Congenital Heart Disease Task Force
- Infection in Pulmonary Vascular Disease (iPVD) Consortium
- High Altitude Task Force
- PAH-Icon
Sessions addressed trial design, imaging harmonisation, paediatric drug development, registry integration, environmental stressors, altitude physiology, and genetic discovery — reflecting PVRI’s strength as an active global research network.

Poster sessions
Three moderated poster sessions, sponsored by Interact Bio, gave early career researchers a platform to present their work, receive expert feedback, and engage directly with senior leaders in PH. For many trainees and early career professionals, these sessions are a vital opportunity to gain visibility and build collaborations that shape future research.
Congratulations to the poster award winners:
- Matrix-Driven Cellular Reprogramming in Pulmonary Hypertension - Nabham Rai
- Expression of Endocytic Molecules and Transmembrane Channel Genes in in vitro models of dysregulated BMP/TGF-β-signaling - Nikolaos Lotsios
- Micropeptide-encoding lncRNAs LNC16 and LNC19 regulate Translation Pathways under Hypoxia in the Lungs - Zahraa S Msheik
Luncheons
Two dedicated luncheon sessions — sponsored by United Therapeutics Corporation— focused on mentorship, inclusion, and strengthening the future of PH leadership.
- Career Catalyst Luncheon
The Career Catalyst Luncheon returned to Dublin as a structured speed-mentoring event for early-career professionals and trainees. In a rotating mentee–mentor format, small groups of early-career delegates met with established PH leaders who moved between tables to listen, advise, and share experience. The session provided practical guidance, networking opportunities, and direct engagement with global experts.
-
Women in PH Luncheon
Returned for its third year, the Women in PH Luncheon brought colleagues together to strengthen professional networks and champion inclusive leadership. Organised by Katarina Zeder and Soni Savai Pullamsetti, the session featured contributions from Irene Lang and Anita Saxena, and a tribute from Mona Lichtblau to Lucilla Piccari. The Luncheon continues to amplify women’s voices across research and clinical practice, while remaining open to all members of the PH community.
Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony
Friday evening’s Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony at the iconic Guinness Storehouse was a true highlight. Delegates enjoyed an immersive self-guided tour, the annual PVRI Awards ceremony, a 3 course celebratory dinner, and live entertainment from local band Medlife Crisis.
During the evening, Anna Hemnes formally concluded her PVRI President 2024–26 role, handing over to Brad Maron as he began his term as PVRI President 2026–28.
Reflecting on his vision, Brad said:
“PVRI has been exceptional in its primary goal of bringing people together across all of those different interests for bettering our understanding and our ability to treat patients who are affected by this important and oftentimes complicated disease.”
Bradley Maron, PVRI President 2026-28
Fundraising events
To mark our anniversary, delegates joined two special fundraising activities:
- Morning run/walk through the streets of Dublin
- PVRI Pub Social, visiting two historic Dublin venues
Together, these events raised funds to support our ongoing work — from educational initiatives to international collaboration — while bringing colleagues together beyond the lecture hall.
