(Pre-meeting) Joint symposium between the Molecular/Animal Task Force and the Women’s Health Task Force

This workshop is open to any member of the PVRI. We encourage researchers and clinicians from all disciplines and specialties to attend. We really hope many of you will join us.

Session Name: Sex talks

K Chaudhary at the Preclinical PVRI Meeting in Rome

Following on from the success of last year's Preclinical & Molecular Science Task Force Meeting, Mandy Maclean & Anna Hemnes organised the first joint symposium between the Molecular/Animal Task Force and the Women’s Health Task Force.

Aim: Aromatase inhibitors such as anastrozole are being considered as novel therapies for PAH. We aim to discuss the sometimes paradoxical pre-clinical data and clinical data surrounding the roles of endogenous estrogens and estrogenic pathways in PAH, women’s health and pregnancy. How do we reconcile these, what are they telling us about our models and experimental design? How should we translate pre-clinical findings to the clinic so that we facilitate new therapies becoming available to our patients?

ORGANIZERS:

Prof Mandy Maclean, UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW, SCOTLAND

Dr Anna Hemnes, VANDERBILT, USA
