Effect of balloon occlusion of patent ductus arteriosus in a two-year-old child. (a) Identical aortic and pulmonary artery pressures before occlusion. (b) Fall in pulmonary artery pressure on occlusion. (c) The difference becomes more prominent [note that aortic pressure has risen]. (d) Pulmonary artery pressure rises again to systemic level after balloon is deflated.
