This week, in partnership with the American College of Cardiology and NCD Alliance and with the support of Pfizer Upjohn, the World Heart Federation is launching the NCD Academy – an initiative which offers free online training on noncommunicable disease (NCD) prevention and management for primary care providers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the increased vulnerability of people living with heart disease and other NCDs. It has also exposed the dangerous consequences of leaving health systems ill-equipped to confront major public health crises, which often have the worst impact on those living with chronic conditions.

The NCD Academy equips clinicians, nurses and community health workers with the knowledge they need to effectively manage NCDs in their communities. Available online and completely free, it will feature a suite of online certificate programmes on all the major NCDs, starting with Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke.
