Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pulmonary Vascular Biology at Stanford University

A postdoctoral fellowship in pulmonary vascular biology at Stanford University is is available at the laboratory of Dr. Vinicio de Jesus Perez. He is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to join its pulmonary vascular research program. The laboratory is located in new state-of-the-art facilities at Stanford Research Park at 1701 Page Mill Road. The laboratory focuses on the genetic and molecular mechanisms that regulate endothelial and pericyte behavior in the context of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). We are particularly interested in elucidating the role of the Wnt signaling pathways in orchestrating cell-cell interactions during angiogenesis and whether targeting Wnt-associated genes could serve as therapeutic targets for PAH. We use well-established and cutting-edge approaches to address these questions including cell culture, Omics, bioinformatics, animal models, and advanced imaging techniques. Besides the Stanford community, our group collaborates with other experts in the US and around the world who share their expertise in bioinformatics, genetics, physics, bioengineering, genetics, and vascular biology.

The laboratory is mainly funded by three R01 grants from the NHLBI and several institutional awards. Current and former postdoctoral fellows have successfully transitioned to positions in academia and industry and received grants from the AHA, NIH, TRAM, NAVBO, and ATS among other organizations.

Requirements: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree in cell/molecular biology or related field, have very good English language skills. Experience and expertise in mammalian cell culture (e.g., proliferation/apoptosis), cloning, confocal microscopy, CRISPR/Cas9, biochemical and molecular biology techniques (including qPCR, cloning, siRNA, Western blotting, IP, as well as basics in rodent models is required.

Start date of the above position February 1, 2022
