The China Task Force focuses on advancing pulmonary vascular disease care and research across China. The Task Force brings together clinicians, researchers, and institutions to strengthen clinical practice, education, and research, while promoting collaboration within China and internationally through PVRI.

Objectives

The Task Force aims to drive technological progress in the field of pulmonary vascular medicine across China and the broader Asia-Pacific region in the following ways:

  • strengthen and expand national registries and cohort studies for pulmonary embolism (PE), chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and PH associated with chronic lung diseases
  • advance clinical diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary vascular diseases
  • support professional training and education for healthcare providers
  • promote translational and clinical research, including the integration of emerging technologies
  • foster domestic and international academic exchange through collaboration with PVRI and global partners
  • support the integration of artificial intelligence and innovative vascular interventional techniques into clinical practice and research.

Recent activities

In 2025 the China Task Force has:

  • expanded a national registry network for venous thromboembolism (VTE), PE, and CTEPH. This comprised of 153 PE centres, 123 VTE centres, 20 CTEPH centres, and 39 specialised right heart catheterisation and interventional centres — enrolling over 100,000 patients across multiple cohorts
  • contributed to international research collaborations, including the TEAM registry and the GoDeep study group
  • hosted the PVRI–China Seminar in Kunming, China. The had in-person participation from PVRI experts and over 1,000 attendees, strengthening academic exchange and laying foundations for future collaborative research.

In 2026, the Task Force aims to:

  • launch a Young Education Group and enhance global networking for early-career scientists within the PVRI framework
  • launch a dedicated webinar series on imaging/research
  • host the next annual PVRI China Task Force meeting
