The Burke Advanced Fellowship in Pulmonary Heart Disease at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School—invites applications for an advanced fellowship in pulmonary heart disease starting July 1, 2026. This training program is sponsored by the Center for Pulmonary Heart Disease at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The position offers an intensive clinical experience including evaluation and management of both inpatients and outpatients with pulmonary vascular disease and right heart dysfunction or failure. In addition, applicants are strongly encouraged to participate in a translational or clinical research program.
Applications are invited from physicians who have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in either pulmonary and critical care medicine or cardiovascular medicine. It is designed to prepare trainees for academic careers with a focus on pulmonary heart and vascular disease. Supervision and teaching is provided by faculty from the Divisions of Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine, Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, and Cardiology from both the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital.
The duration of the fellowship is one to two years. Clinical fellows participate in a year long program and are fully funded. Fellows pursuing a combined clinical and research program are expected to complete two years of training. Full funding is provided during the first and second years. Faculty will assist fellows in applying for grant funding for salary and project support during the second year of training.
