Celebrating women in PH this International Women's Day
We recently held our PVRI 2024 Annual Congress in London, and we are thrilled to share that 49% of our delegates were women. During the Congress, were able to chat to some of these women about their perspectives on what it means to be a woman in PH, and what we can do to overcome any challenges they face:
Our commitment to gender equality is evident not only in our delegates but also in our leadership, with our female CEO Karen Osborn, our second female President Anna Hemnes and our newly established Scientific and Medical Advisory Council, of which half of the members are women.
During the Congress, we also hosted our first Women in PH Luncheon with United Therapeutics Corporation. Nicole deFreese and PVRI President Anna Hemnes welcomed women from around the world who shared their journeys and what it means to them to be a woman in PH. There were some insightful discussions and we loved hearing about the experiences, challenges and successes of our speakers.
"I have found a deep connection and support network within the field of pulmonary hypertension, including the women colleagues who have supported and mentored me over the years, and have given me opportunities like getting to know those through the PVRI. And so I feel very lucky and happy to be a woman in pulmonary hypertension."
Anna Hemnes PVRI President
Today (and every day!), we're celebrating the achievements of women in PH and reaffirming our collective commitment to this year's International Women's Day theme - inspiring inclusion.
Happy International Women's Day!
